About Us

Because every handmade object has a life of meaning behind it

Ten Thousand Villages is more than a store.

  • We're a LOCAL non-profit with a GLOBAL mission.
  • We're part of a global maker‑to‑market movement.
  • We're a way for you to shop with intention for ethically-sourced wares—and to share in the joy of connecting with makers around the world.

As a pioneer of fair trade, we do business differently, putting people and planet first. That means you can trust that every handmade purchase you make from us directly impacts the life and community of its maker in a developing country.

We recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and governed by a board of directors from the local State College community. Any donation to our organization is fully tax-deductible.

We opened our store at 1341 S Atherton Street (Talbots plaza) in September of 2018 expanded at the same location in 2021.

Stop by and discover ethically sourced gifts, home décor, jewelry, personal accessories, art, and other treasures. We have a great selection of products and convenient and free parking.
